Master of Ceremonies Committee

Vision

The Master of Ceremonies (MCs) at Glad Tidings Fellowship church aims to ensure that our church services are conducted in an orderly and time-conscious manner, acknowledging and revering God as the owner of the church.

Mission

The MCs Committee at Glad Tidings Fellowship High Glen Church accomplishes the aim through use of local church members who are biblically-sound men of faith, knowledgeable in our church doctrines and gifted to motivate and encourage other believers in our faith in God.

Objectives

  • To be time-conscious and motivating the congregation as we conduct our church services.
  • To be spiritually sensitive to the presence of the Holy Spirit during church services, so that we allow Him to ‘ignite the church’.
  • To implement the expectations of the church elders during the service.
  • To ensure our church services are conducted in an orderly manner and keeping time allocated for each service.
  • To encourage congregants to love God and be alert in the church services.
  • To identify and provide other believers an opportunity to be developed into future church service MCs.

MCs Committee Composition

The MCs Committee is comprised of elders who have been appointed by the Senior Pastor. At Glad Tidings Fellowship – High glen Church, only men can be church service master of ceremonies. This is based on our church doctrinal standing.

Drivers for MCs Committee – :

 i) Prayer and Fasting

This is held in order to assist the committee lead spiritually. The committee encourages those men chosen to be Thursday or Sunday Service MCs to choose time for fasting and prayer and seek God’s wisdom and Holy Spirit guidance.

ii) Reading and Studying the Bible

This is done in order to assist the committee to be filled with the word of God and become knowledgeable in sound doctrine. The committee encourages those men identified and listed to be MCs to desire dwelling in the word of God and to be filled with the word.

iii) Identifying and keeping MCs Register:-

This is done in order to have a large pool of approved men to ensure continuity of God’s work. This also gives believers an opportunity to minister in the church and exercise their gifts. All those who are assigned to be MCs, have to be approved by the senior pastor in order to maintain orderliness, soundness and maturity in conducting the church services. Mostly those who are on the list of MCs are; pastors, some elders, some deacons and some cell group leaders.

iv) Meetings with Senior Pastor:-

These are normally held at the beginning of the year so as to get the expectations from the senior Pastor as the man of vision. This aims to align the committee’s efforts to be aligned to the church vision.

Church MC Attributes:-

For someone to serve as MC during church services, he must be a man who:-

  • Is a mature, born again christian;
  • Is blameless and God-fearing;
  • Recognizes and gives due respect to the church leadership (pastors, elders, deacons and deaconesses);
  • Is knowledgeable on our church doctrine/s, so that he correctly presents our statement of faith;
  • Reads/ studies his bible and also shows a prayerful life;
  • Can encourage, motivate and inspire congregants to pray and to give;
  • Can manage allocated time for the church service, and guard against time-overruns;
  • Demonstrates correct habits and dresses presentably in front of the congregation;
  • Can communicate and explain things clearly;
  • Does not take an MC to be a preacher;
  • Is well organized in his speech in front of the congregation;
  • Guards his tongue from coarse talk; etc.
